Christie Roche, LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
The newest addition to Family Therapy Associates, a lifelong Connecticut resident, Christie Roche received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UConn before her interest and enthusiasm for the field led her to Southern Connecticut State University where she earned her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Christie is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in individual therapy, couples therapy, and family therapy. Her passion is working with young adults and their families helping them navigate life's' bumpy roads. Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, conflict resolution, grief and loss, and anger management. Christie’s belief is that through the therapeutic process, she and her clients can actively work together to create positive change as matters unfold.
In addition to her work with individuals and families, Christie has taken her passion for the systemic therapeutic model and used it to facilitate a variety of groups. These groups include traditional topics such as parenting, as well as nontraditional groups that incorporate music and the arts. She believes that by accessing aspects of life in its' simplest form, we create pathways to grow and heal into our most optimal selves.
Furthermore, Christie is Gestalt Therapy Certified and utilizes that training to engage a client's whole body during therapy. Most recently, Christie has taken her passion for the field and completed training to become an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. This designation gives her the ability to work with Marriage and Family Therapy students and pre-licensure candidates, thereby passing on her knowledge over to future generations of therapists.
Outside of the treatment room, Christie can be found spending time with her fiancé, friends, and family. She loves venturing outdoors with her dog Yoshi and she is an avid game lover. Whenever possible, she and her fiancé also enjoy taking trips into NYC to see a Broadway show or to attend a concert.
